A little bug

These are horrible pictures but the feeling is there for me. This little bug has now been attached for three little ones and I have special memories of him with each. The first time Nathan pulled it at Corti Bros picking up our Thanksgiving turkey, Laura loving it, and now Noah finally starting to react to things and smile and show us his little personality. Just a little bug but a big soft spot in a mommy's heart.

Otto the friendly scarecrow!

This just really makes me giggle. Nathan had this project for school and we had talked about how he wanted to decorate his scarecrow in depth. A trip to the craft store included a yellow shirt (of course, did you think it would be a different color!?!), sparkly/glittery/village people esqe pants, a belt, a yellow button belt buckle, 'america buttons' for his shirt, a hat, google eyes, a pink nose, 'straight like his' brown yarn hair, and a crow on his shoulder so you would know he is friendly. Let's not forget his name on his hat so everyone knows who he is. My kids definitely know what they want, gee I wonder where they get that from. These creations were hung up for the school wide fall festival and there was no missing my little boy's creation. I was quite proud of how it came out.

Oh, my little Laura

This picture breaks my heart as well as warms it. I was feeding Noah and Laura asks me to read her a story. I tell her that I will once I am done. She says okay water cup you read me the story and proceeds to 'read' the story out loud to herself as the cup! I just really feel like she gets the draft most days and have to work extra hard at getting myself organized so I can have some special time for her.

Just a little murmur...

...actually two little murmurs. This has been a trying few weeks where I have bitten all of my nails off (a habit I am really trying hard to break). Noah just seemed a little off to me at a month old, not focusing, just blank stares, no real connection. Mother's intuition told me to have him checked. His pediatrician had heard a murmur at his two week appointment but had me feed him to calm him down and felt it was okay after he was calm. When I brought him back to check him out at a month he felt it was louder now and had me take Noah for a chest xray and ekg. A chest xray with a newborn is not a fun experience but we got it done. The ekg was done incorrectly and had to be redone after a long weekend. The result was that his heart looked enlarged but the good news is the ekg looked normal but he wanted Noah to see a pediatric cardiologist. They got us in the same day as the referral so I was a bit panicked. The cardiologist was wonderful and heard two murmurs as well and scheduled us for an echo cardiogram. We couldn't get in for that for another week and a half though. They were not all that concerned for urgency since Noah has not displayed any sickness or hard time breathing and he is interested in eating and gaining weight (11 pounds at 5 weeks). The not focusing, just not quite seeming right to mommy is probably related to all the narcotics they had me on in the hospital and once I got home. The cardiologist said it is actually pretty common and takes a while to get the drugs out of them. So basically my little love had to detox! The cardiologist was not concerned about the enlarged heart since it is really hard to get a good picture of a newborn heart. The echo cardiogram turned out to be normal too. So, he has two little murmurs that he should outgrow but we will need to monitor them and he will need to see the pediatric cardiologist again at 12 months. Whew, I am so grateful!

3 Little Pumpkins

Just a quick little photo op with the three little pumpkins in my life. We got these from the field trip with Nathan's school. My mom was sweet enough to tag along and look after Laura and Noah so I could chaperon. That was really fun, something I have always wanted to do. Laura had to make sure she picked a pumpkin out for Noah but what I thought was so cute is how they coordinated with sizes.

Just the cutest little thing!

This is a very special moment for me. Grandma Alma made Laura a matching little nightgown for my old cabbage patch doll. I have so many wonderful little outfits (yes entire outfits) that she made me for my dolls it is just so wonderful that Laura has embraced them and we are having fun dressing my old dolls up.

October Apple Hill Visit

Well, I am finally getting around to updating some pictures with a few stories. Sleep has been the priority these past few weeks but I know some updates are required and requested!
This was a quick trip up to Apple Hill mid October. The kids (read Mike) were oh so excited to get caramel apples. The down side to the trip was apparently every other person took advantage of the soccer bye week and decided to go up there too. The traffic was horrible riddled with 'are we there yet?' where we had to stop before we actually got to Apple Hill for lunch at a Mexican place only to have Nathan throw up his entire lunch on the table and me (the one time I don't pack extra clothes for myself)! The thing about my kiddo is he is perfectly fine after he empties his stomach!
The usual spots were so crowded with people I finally stayed in the car with Noah to have Mike and Nathan and Laura wait in a very long line for caramel apples. Then we just went home. The longest garsh darn trip for some caramel apples I have ever heard of but hey the smiles were worth it!
