I have not taken very many pictures of the little man but this one tugged at my heart today. He is trying so hard to adjust. The first two weeks were a dream but now settling in and finding a routine is proving to include much more crying. I just feel like he gets the short end of the stick with Nathan and Laura being louder and needing my attention. I am certain the people with a gaggle more kids have some sort of superpowers to keep it all together and keep the children alive. I am just trying to enjoy every moment but seem to be caught up in just getting things done. This picture will help remind me to take it slow because I can't believe he will be 4 weeks old on Wednesday.

King for the Day!
On Tuesday, Nathan got to be 'King for the Day' in his kindergarten class. He was beginning to think they forgot him since everyone else got to be King or Queen. I was beginning to worry too since I knew how much this meant to him. King or Queen means they get to be the teacher helper and pick certain special things for the day and you get to bring Buddy home with you. Buddy is a backpack dog (kind of a mascot for their retriever class) and he comes with a journal to document his adventures with each child (which we had to read each and every story).
Nathan was so excited to include Buddy in everything when he got home from school. We made a quick stop by the scrapbook store and Nathan proudly had Buddy on his back. Mike even took us all to Chevy's for dinner (Tuesdays kids eat free - great deal) and did the drive thru at McDonald's to get the kids ice cream sundaes! Mike and Nathan played a quick game of frogger on the PS2 and I took my eyes off Laura for a second and she decided she had to put her special mark on the Buddy journal with crayon on one of the kids stories. OMG can I just say why did this have to happen to the most OCD of parents?!? Mike and Nathan wrote a really cute recap of Buddy's day and I wrote an apology note to the teacher for my 2 year old.
The teacher was really very kind about the whole thing just chalking it up to 'that is what 2 year olds do' and I was told I need to 'relax, and chill out'. Oh how I wish that was in my personality naturally!
